Important update about masking requirement changes at PWG: In March we passed the 3 year mark since COVID-19 was first classified as a Public Health Emergency by the United States and a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020. Team PWG is very proud of how we navigated through the pandemic while still remaining open to serve our patients, families and communities.
The virus causing COVID-19 is still with us and likely will remain so for the foreseeable future but we are in a different place in terms of prevention and treatment of COVID-19. In recognition of this fact, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is ending the mask mandate for healthcare facilities on April 3, 2023.
As of Monday April 3, 2023 masks will no longer be required for patients, families, and our PWG staff in patient care settings, including examination rooms and waiting areas. You may choose to continue to wear masks at your discretion. We encourage everyone to follow common-sense COVID safety rules, including testing if you develop symptoms and staying home if you feel sick.
